PRACTICE PLAN CHECK-IN

For those who took a next step to strengthen their community at Valley Creek, how did it go? What did you learn about yourself and God?

DISCUSS & ENGAGE THE SCRIPTURES

1. Read Mark 8:34-36. We often look at what it costs to follow Jesus instead of what it costs not to follow Him. Where do you struggle most: denying yourself, taking up your cross, or following Jesus? How does this impact your daily life?

2. Read John 13:1, John 13:3, and Mark 10:42-45. Service is love expressed. It’s a practice and a gift. If you consider your daily life, is it more arranged around serving others or being served? How so?

3. Take a look at the premises for serving:

  • Church is a place to practice serving. Where do you practice serving (both inside and outside of Valley Creek)?
  • What is your main motivation for serving others?

4. Read Psalms 40:6-8 and Ephesians 4:11-13,15-16. If you’ve decided to be a willing servant for life, what is the Holy Spirit showing you through this Scripture? If you haven’t, what would it look like to spend time seeking God on how He has served you?

PRACTICE PLAN

Wake up every morning this week and ask the Holy Spirit to give you opportunities to serve throughout the day and then do them.

PRAY

Holy Spirit, help us become a people who practice serving because we want to become disciples of Jesus.
