Where's Your Life Going?

Discuss and Engage Scripture

Optional Starter: For those who are engaging in the practice plan, share what God showed you as you wrestled with your definition and Jesus’ definition of a Good and Beautiful life.

1. Read Romans 8:1. The Sermon on the Mount is preached to our future, not our past, and how we hear it is determined by our view of God. What are you noticing about what you believe about God as we journey through the Sermon on the Mount?

2. One of the things we did was to walk through the outline of the Sermon on the Mount as one cohesive message. What did you discover as we walked through the outline?

3. Read Matthew 4:19. There are five things to keep in mind about the Sermon on the Mount as we work through it. Which one of these stuck out to you and why? How is the Holy Spirit helping you repent (change your thinking)?

The Sermon on the Mount is…

- An invitation, not an obligation

- For you, not for “someone else”

- Ordered (and the order matters)

- About changing your beliefs, not your behaviors

- A description of who Jesus is, not a demand of what you have to do

4. A next step is any belief or behavior that moves you forward on your journey with Jesus. Based on this conversation, what is one next step you intend to take this week?

Pray

Jesus, may we change our thinking to align with yours as we journey through the Sermon on the Mount.
