Mission is using all of my life to help people discover and experience the availability of the kingdom of God through the person and work of Jesus. Use this definition as you invite the Holy Spirit into the questions below!
1. Read Matthew 4:17-20. In your own words, describe what "Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men" means to you in this season. Where do you sense Jesus inviting you to move (do something through you), and where do you need to trust Him to make (do something in you)?
2. How are you inviting God into your family, home, and decisions? If you aren't, what's one next step you can take to do that this week?
3. Read Matthew 5:3 and Mark 10:23. Where are you "rich" in worldly things (like opinions, preferences, relationships, resources, or opportunities), and how is the Holy Spirit inviting you to leave those things behind so you can fully follow Him?
4. Read Matthew 28:19-20. Obedience is the evidence of being reached, and focusing on others can be a distraction from that. When Jesus says, “What is that to you? You must follow me,” how does that challenge you to focus less on others and more on your own obedience?
5. Read Romans 2:4. Based on your own experience of the gospel (receiving grace, experiencing His presence, releasing His kingdom), what is the Holy Spirit trying to show you about living on mission as the church?
Reminder: If you take a next step, mark your move! Celebrate with your circle! Grab a marker at the Info Tower, mark your move on the Movement Board, and cheer each other on. Learn more at valleycreek.org/nextsteps.
